Abstract
Kitapları kabına, insanları dış görünüşüne bakarak değerlendirmememiz gerektiği çok iyi biliyor olsak da, çoğumuz çevremizdeki nesneleri çoğu zaman kabuğuna göre değerlendirmekten vazgeçemeyiz. Bu çalışma kapsamında potansiyel kullanıcıların otellerin dış cephelerinin fotoğrafları üzerinden otellerin yıldız sayılarını tahmin etmeleri ve en çok beğendikleri otel yapısını belirtmeleri istenmiştir. 127 katılımcının 18 otel yapısını değerlendirmesi ile elde edilen bulgular kesin sonuç önermemekle birlikte, otel yapılarının dış cephelerinin gerçekte sahip oldukları yıldız sayıları hakkında kullanıcılara fikir verdiğine yönelik ipuçları sunmaktadır. Ayrıca en çok beğendikleri oteller sorulduğunda ise katılımcıların neredeyse tamamı 5 yıldızlı olduğunu tahmin ettikleri otelleri seçmiştir. Benzer şekilde, katılımcıların çoğunun en çok beğendiği otel gerçekte de 5 yıldızlıdır. Bu çalışma ülkemizde mimari yapılarının dış cephelerinin çevrelerine verdikleri mesajları tartışmaya açarak ve bu tartışmayı deneysel bir çalışma ile destekleyerek bundan sonra konu hakkında yapılacak araştırmalara bir yön verecektir.
