Abstract

Barriers and Their Proposed Solutions for Project Management in Green Building Production

Year 2021, Volume: 9 Issue: 2, 98 - 104, 31.08.2021

Abstract

The construction industry plays an important role in improving the quality of public life and meeting its needs. However, while the construction industry consumes 47% of the energy produced in the world, the industrial sector consumes only 28%. Besides, the construction industry contributes 35% of global CO2 emissions and 45-65% of the accumulated waste. All these promote environmental sustainability. "Sustainable Development", which emerged with the increase of environmental awareness and the importance given to environmental protection, is frequently used with the green building concept. Green buildings are sustainable structures that are healthy and use resources efficiently. Although much attention has been paid to green buildings lately, there are a number of obstacles to their widespread adoption. This study aims to examine the critical challenges in the adoption of green building production regarding some countries and the proposed solutions to these challenges. Also, encouraging the practitioners and government employees working in this area to take appropriate measures to reduce barriers, and giving suggestions for Turkey and to help encourage the adoption of green building are also aimed.
